Yakima 4 bike hitch

I purchased my Yakima FourTimer to haul bikes, and it does a great job at that task. I usually have it in 2-bike configuration, but the extra 2-bike capacity is simple and quick to put on and has been great when needed. For smaller-sized groups, the HangOver is also available in a simplified four-bike configuration. I love how easy it is to load bikes on this rack, how they are kept from rubbing against each other or anything else during transit, how securely they are held, and how affordable this rack is for all the features it has. It is quite heavy the package weighed about 80lbs! I almost went with the tried and true Holdup, but the pri ce was right for the Fourtimer.

For our application, I actually built a single rack atop a hitch extender so that goes in the receiver first then the Fourtimer into it. It's only limitation is how it interfaces with non-traditional frames. It's no longer an exercise in engineering and futility every time we want to go for a ride. So head for the hills with the whole crew—and never worry about the rear view. We're a family of 3 and this works great for our family rides. I love the bike rack and it's on a 2013 Ford Fusion. It might sound confusing, but you'll see what I mean when you get one.

I was really pleased with the service. Holds up to four or five bikes. Yakima service is great if parts are ever needed so it is no brainer an d we have been very pleased. The rack seems really well built and well designed. It's pretty easy to change from a two bike rack and add the other section to carry four bikes.

The stabilizing bolt comes with a lock on the end which is awesome. Cradles also are easily adjustable horizontally. At best you can fit one mast through the frame and will have to tie the bike down to the mast with straps or bungee cords with the cradle slid out of the way to the side. I got thi s for the family suv. I have a 30 year old Yakima roof system for my mountain rides.

Ensure you check the weight ratings of your receiver and extension first Now, five bikes travel with ease. We have had fourtimer now for almost 1 year. I wish Yakima would offer a locking collar that could be placed around that bolt. I expect to have this just as long because of how well made it is. Caution: The Yakima top tube adapter will be too long for these frames also.

I have had thule t2 which was too heavy for our hitch and then had a north shore which did not work out for our vehicle plus you have to tie down the front wheels to keep them from spinning. One thing to keep in mind when placing the bikes on the racks. That allows you to fully compress the toptube holder on sloping top tube bikes or lower top tube bikes. I'm hoping for a few more missions this fall before winter arrives where I'll convert it down to the 2 bike version and give that a try. And I am very happy with my purchase.

We can load four bikes in just a few minutes and when you've got three kids ages 8-10, that can make life a lot better! As far as bike locations per size on the rack it's gonna be by your judgement, we tried the big bike, smaller bike, big bike smaller bike and it didn't work in our case wi th Bmx 20in race bikes and cruisers. Really enjoying the quality and versatility of this rack. The only problem with the design is that the pivot bolt can be easily removed, so all anyone has to do to steal your bikes is remove that bolt and lift the entire assembly off the part that goes into the hitch receiver. Easy on and off with the bikes. Constructed of heavy-duty steel, our first-ever vertical bike rack safely hauls up to six mountain bikes to the trailhead. Our premium tilt-down hitch rack comes fully assembled out of the box. We were struggling to carry five bikes for our family since they are a variety of sizes and configurations, the five bike racks wouldn't quite fit.
